Professional Achievement Recognition
This is an exciting time for Adventist early childhood professionals! Here in the Pacific Union, we are instituting the first-ever, original, and only Professional Achievement Recognition certification protocol. Our goal is to recognize, encourage and promote the professional development of our early childhood professionals.
Apply now! You may be eligible for certification.
Early Childhood Education and Care Professional Achievement Matrix. This matrix provides a brief overview of the different levels of certification.
The Professional Achievement Recognition Manual provides more detail and will assist you in obtaining re-certification over the next several years.
The Professional Achievement Recognition Application form. In order to receive the Professional Achievement Recognition, the Pacific Union Early Childhood Education and Care Division must receive the following:
- A completed Professional Achievement Recognition Application.
- Official transcripts of all college/universities and graduate work completed, requested by the applicant and sent directly to the ECEC Division from the college/university office of records.
- Documented professional growth activities and other types of relevant and applicable courses completed.
- Evidence of all relevant work experience including relevant and applicable committee work (resumes are acceptable).
Remember that your best effort is rewarded. "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might..." (Ecclesiastes 9:10.) All coursework must be completed at an accredited college/university and with passing grades of C or above.
Required core ECE/CD courses are in the following categories:
- Child/Human Growth and Development
- Child-Family-Community or Child and Family Relations
- Programs/Curriculum
You should, as much as possible, take the courses in the order recommended by your college/university. These courses build on each other and you want a good foundation for success. Each institution is unique; the course name may vary. However, the basic description of the course should give you an idea of where it falls within the categories listed above.
At this time, Adventist early childhood professionals are not required to be certified. The purpose of Professional Achievement Recognition is to certify and acknowledge the efforts and attainments of the early childhood professional who is continually learning and growing within their area of expertise. The intent of the Professional Achievement Recognition process is to honor such professionalism.
Thank you for being part of the Adventist mission!
